Ward signs new five-year-deal before loan move

Liverpool’s young goalkeeper, Danny Ward, has today signed a new five-year-deal with the Reds before completing a loan move to Huddersfield Town for the upcoming season, as per a report in the Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp rates Ward very highly and believes he has an exciting future with the Reds. Klopp did recall Ward from his successful loan spell at Aberdeen last season to be used in the first team squad.

Ward has shown his quality already this summer, making his international debut with Wales in their first game at the Euros against Slovakia, a game which Wales won 2-1.

The experience Ward will have gained from being involved in Wales’ extremely successful campaign, reaching the semi-finals, will give him plenty of confidence for the future.

Klopp was keen to ensure the Ward committed his future to the club before he departed to Huddersfield for the upcoming football season. Ward will be playing under manager David Wagner, a close friend of Klopp’s, who worked with him at Borussia Dortmund.

The Liverpool manager wanted the keeper to play as much football as possible this coming season and as he has already signed German Under 21 international Loris Karius, it made sense to let Ward go out on loan.

This deal with Ward should give the Welshman the assurance that he will be given first-team chances in the near future.
