Georginio Wijnaldum was recently announced as Liverpool’s latest summer signing, arriving for around £25million from Newcastle United.
After the completion of the deal, he headed out to America to join up with his new teammates for the remainder of the pre-season.
Having been a key man in a struggling Newcastle side who eventually faced relegation in the end, the 25-year old ‘Gini’ was always going to attract interest for Premier League teams and once again both Liverpool and Tottenham were interested in the same player.
However, with Tottenham not willing to match the reported fee, Liverpool were the only serious contender for the Dutch international.
