A new year brings new beginnings, and Liverpool begin their campaign for domestic cup glory at home to Plymouth in the third round of the FA Cup.
A break from the Premier League title race means that Jürgen Klopp has the chance to rotate his squad after an exhausting festive period.
In all honesty this competition will be of the least priority to the manager, with the Reds being second in the league and in the semi-final of the League Cup, so don’t expect to see many star names on the team sheet come Sunday.
Against a League Two side at Anfield, Liverpool will be expected to dispatch the opposition regardless of the team selection.
This gives us the opportunity to see a number of fringe players come to the fore and some promising youngsters from the U23s side – which makes my job here all that more difficult.
