Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita looks set to come to a successful conclusion as, for the first time, sources at the German club have moved away from the rhetoric that the player is not for sale.
The Reds had a bid of around £57million rejected for Keita but, according to Bundesliga journalist Chris Williams, sources within Leipzig have suggested that an improved offer will be enough to get a deal done.
Leipzig’s Sporting Director, Ralph Rangnick, has been on record for a long time saying that Keita was not for sale but it looks like Liverpool’s willingness to splash the cash has changed a few minds at the Bundesliga side.

One source Leipzig went so far to say that he thought it was a “formality” that the Guinean would leave the club this summer.
As Williams reports, the source said:
Naby was given assurances that if a credible bid came in from a renowned club he would be allowed to leave before any clause came into effect but qualification for the Champions League came earlier than expected so there are some within the club that think this is no longer an option.
Leipzig are reportedly holding out for £70m and if Liverpool can meet that valuation, it’s likely that they’ll get the man they’ve been after all summer.
