Liverpool reject Sevilla loan move for Sturridge

Liverpool have rejected an offer from Sevilla to take Daniel Sturridge on loan for the rest of this season, according to the Daily Mail.

Sevilla would like the England striker and would offer him regular football, as well as his £150,000-per-week wages, which is attracting Sturridge to Spain.

Inter Milan are also said to be interested in bringing him on loan to the San Siro, but they are in a similar situation to the La Liga side, as a deal has not been agreed yet.

If Sturridge were to go to Sevilla, he would be cup-tied for the Champions League tie against Liverpool’s arch rivals, Manchester United, who have been drawn against Los Rojiblancos in the Round of 16.

Sturridge is desperate for regular football as he is fighting for a spot on Gareth Southgate’s plane to Russia this summer. However, he is finding it next to impossible win back a place in Jurgen Klopp’s attack which consists of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.

He has scored three times for the Reds this season, all at Anfield, twice in the Premier League against Arsenal and Huddersfield Town and in the Champions League against Maribor.

Despite featuring for Klopp’s side 15 times this season, he hasn’t made an appearance since coming on as a substitute in the 7-0 win against Spartak Moscow.
