Gremio striker Luan has been continually linked with a move to Liverpool over the last six months but the Reds could face some competition for his signature.
The Daily Mail report that Newcastle have entered the race to sign the Brazilian forward with Rafa Benitez set to widen his striker search this month.
Luan signed a new deal with Gremio in November which runs until December 2020 and it’s understood that the 24-year-old is valued at £17.5m.

Able to play across the forward line, Luan has netted 36 goals and provided 22 assists in 131 career appearances for Gremio and his impressive performances in 2017 were rewarded with his maiden call-up to the Brazil senior international squad.
Jurgen Klopp has been considering shaking up his striker options with both Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge wanted elsewhere on loan deals, with Sturridge especially attracting great interest from the likes of Inter Milan, Sevilla, West Ham, West Brom and Newcastle.
