Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon in what was an enthralling encounter.
The Reds started in the best possible fashion, as Mohamed Salah netted yet another goal for his side after capitalising on a loose back-pass from Spurs midfielder Eric Dier.
Spurs equalised in the second-half, though, through Victor Wanyama. The Kenyan had only been on the pitch for a few minutes before he unleashed a thunderous strike into the top corner in front of the Kop end.
The visitors then had the chance to go 2-1 up late on. Loris Karius was judged to have brought Harry Kane down, handing the England international the perfect chance to give his side the advantage. Kane stepped up and saw his penalty saved by Karius, though, with the German standing firm in the middle of his goal to deny the forward.
Salah looked to have won it for the Reds in stoppage time as he weaved his way through Spurs’ defence to delicately loft the ball over Hugo Lloris, making it 2-1 to Liverpool with little time remaining.
However, one more twist in the tale was still to be played out and Virgil van Dijk conceded a dubious penalty after being judged to have kicked Erik Lamela. Kane made no mistake this time, and sent Spurs home with a point.
