Liverpool decided not to replace Philippe Coutinho in January after selling the attacking midfielder to Barcelona in a deal worth £142m but the Reds are determined to recruit a replacement in the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been mentioned among a host of top European clubs as a potential suitor for highly-rated Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay.
The 24-year-old has two goals and five assists so far this season for Hoffenheim and is also on the radar of Arsenal, Everton, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.
Milan and Dortmund are understood to be the club’s leading the race for Demirbay’s signature following an impressive campaign.
Demirbay signed a new contract with Hoffenheim last year which includes a release clause of just €32m which is a relatively small fee in today’s market.
With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund all keen on the midfielder, Hoffenheim face a fight to keep ahold of Demirbay in the summer.
