Following the dip in form of Chelsea since the turn of the year, Liverpool have leapfrogged the Blues into third place in the Premier League table, positioning themselves well for the run-in with the final three Champions League places still up for grabs.
In what was a thoroughly enjoyable game for the neutral last time out, Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham sees them maintain their two-point lead on the North London club going into their trip to Southampton this weekend.
The Liverpool-Southampton rivalry that has been brewing the last three or four years saw it’s fire stoked again in January when Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk for a club-record fee of £75m, with the centre-back making his first return to St. Mary’s since leaving the club.
