Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that it’s “not a secret” that the club are exploring the option of tying down winger Sadio Mane to a new deal, according to the Mirror.
Mane’s current deal doesn’t actually expire until 2021 but the Reds are keen to tie him down to a further deal as they look to avoid offloading one of their most impressive performers.
Mane signed for the club in 2016 from Southampton and has been a welcome addition since joining despite not being quite at his best this season.
Klopp made it clear that he is keen to keep all of his players at the moment and not lose them, particularly in the upcoming summer window.
There’s nothing to do about that. That we want to keep the players together is not a secret. We want to keep Sadio here – keep this team and strengthen it. It’s completely normal.
With Mane aged just 25, Liverpool are looking to make him part of their long-term plans after really seeing something in the player. They seemingly feel he has the potential to get even better.
Liverpool come up against West Ham this weekend and Mane is sure to play a key role in helping his side pick up the right result when they face their London opponents.
