Liverpool and Manchester United are set to battle in the race to sign Lazio defender Stefan De Vrij.
According to The Guardian, both sides are looking to sign the defender this summer and will be competing against each other for his signature.
Liverpool have been touted with interest in De Vrij for some time now and are strong contenders to sign the Dutchman.
Manchester United have now joined the race and will look to make sure he does not end up at Anfield.
De Vrij was reportedly on the verge of a move to Inter Milan, before the move collapsed earlier this week.
This has opened the door for Liverpool to swoop in and sign De Vrij on a free transfer.
His contract with Lazio expires at the end of the season and it has been confirmed that he will not be signing a new deal with the Italian outfit.
