Emre Can was forced off midway through the first half of Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of Watford last time out due to a back injury sustained during the game, but was deemed fit enough to join up with the Germany squad ahead of their friendlies against Spain and Brazil this month.

However, the midfielder has been forced to pull out of a training session this morning with the rest of the Germany squad after suffering a recurrence of the back injury, according to Christian Falk of Sport Bild in Germany.
As for the severity of the injury, it’s unclear whether it will force Can to miss the full slate of international fixtures but a return date from this latest setback is unknown as of yet.
The 24-year-old is set to be an integral part of Joachim Low’s side at this summer’s World Cup, but if the former Bayern Munich man is forced to miss both their games this month, it will come as a blow to Low and his staff.
Can has made 37 appearances for Liverpool this season, scoring six goals and recording five assists in the process, and Jurgen Klopp will be sweating over his fitness in the coming weeks as after the international break Liverpool will be preparing for their huge Champions League quarter-final clashes with Manchester City.
