Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde says Ousmane Dembele will not be moving to Anfield this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the Frenchman in recent days, however, Jurgen Klopp laughed off rumours about Dembele after the Chelsea defeat at the weekend.
Klopp said:
Who was the second name? Dembele? Oooh, is he on the market? Now I am interested! I never comment on transfer rumours.
The 20-year-old has had an indifferent first season at the La Liga champions after signing for a hefty €105 million last summer, making 20 appearances and scoring just three goals.
After being blighted by injury in his first campaign, Valverde is backing the young winger to become a success in time.
We have to realise he just got here. He’s had some injuries and getting playing time in our team is not easy but we know he’s young, he’s had a tough season and we hope he will continue to develop next year.
The Reds will have to look elsewhere for attacking additions, with Nabil Fekir seeming most likely to come in as things stand.
