Liverpool make decision on Coutinho’s medal

Phillippe Coutinho will receive a medal if Liverpool are victorious in Saturday night’s Champions League final, reports the Telegraph.

UEFA regulations state that the Champions League winners are given 40 gold medals and the runners-up are handed 30 silver medals after each final. Distributing them is at each club’s discretion.

The Brazilian left the Reds in January to move to Barcelona for a mammoth fee of £142 million but wasn’t eligible to play for the Catalan side because he was cup-tied.

Jurgen Klopp has always said he doesn’t hold a grudge against him for that move, and that shows as he will honour the five appearances Coutinho made in the group stages of the competition.

He is one of 25 players that have played for Liverpool in Europe this season, scoring five goals including his first hat-trick at Anfield in the 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow.

Coutinho should expect a nice package in the near future should the outcome be positive for Liverpool this weekend.
