Lyon have cancelled negotiations with Liverpool over the transfer of midfielder Nabil Fekir.
In a statement, Lyon confirmed that negotiations had been cancelled, with the club deciding to end negotiations after a lengthy period.
It reads:
Olympique Lyonnais informs that the negotiations with the Liverpool FC and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and that Olympique Lyonnais has decided to put an end to this negotiation tonight.
A deal for Fekir had thought to be close, however, concerns have emerged over the player’s injury history, with Fekir suffering an ACL injury in 2015.

Talks had been long and confusing, with Lyon saying that the player would not be sold before the World Cup, before rumours emerged that the Frenchman would be signing for Liverpool this week.
With this statement, it looks like Liverpool’s pursuit of Fekir will end, with Jurgen Klopp now forced to look elsewhere to find a new midfielder.
