Liverpool were linked with a mega-money move for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio last month, but any slight hopes the Reds had of signing the Spanish international have been dashed after his agent confirmed that his client would not be leaving the European Champions this summer.
The 22-year-old is seen as the future of Real Madrid but he is keen to play regular first-team football, hence why he was being linked with a move.
However, with Cristiano Ronaldo set to be playing for Juventus in Italy next season, Asensio will be hoping to get the chance to prove that he can be Madrid’s next superstar.

Horacio Gaggioli, the Spaniard’s agent, spoke to AS and was asked about the reported interest in his client from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
He replied:
Marco will stay at Real Madrid, he will not be moving. Next season he will be a very important player for Madrid. He is improving all the time.
It looks like Liverpool will still be bringing in an attacking player, but it remains to be seen who that player is.
