Liverpool Player Ratings: West Ham (H)

Liverpool kicked off their 2018/19 Premier League season with a convincing 4-0 against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday 12th August.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane (2) and Daniel Sturridge shot the Reds to the top of the table as Manuel Pellegrini’s side were comfortably taken apart by a typically-lethal Liverpool team.

Jurgen Klopp named one of the strongest starting XIs seen in recent years, with debuts for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker and dynamic midfielder Naby Keita, both big-money summer arrivals with a lot to prove. But it was the old guard who dispatched West Ham with ease – Salah took just nineteen minutes to get back on the goal trail before Mane bagged a brace either side of half-time; Supersub Sturridge scored with his first touch after coming off the bench, to the delight of his manager.

The result sends Liverpool above their rivals (albeit temporarily, depending on the Arsenal-City outcome) and announces to the rest of the world that the Reds are back with a bang. Here’s how I rated the players today…
