Liverpool have pulled off a major coup by beating Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United to sign Ajax defender Ki-Jana Hoever, as per a report from James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.
Ajax are said to be “devastated” at losing the 16-year-old, and as he had not put pen-to-paper on a professional contract, Liverpool will only have to pay the Dutch giants a small compensation fee.

According to Pearce’s report, a number of high profile clubs across Europe were interested in the teenager but Hoever decided to join Liverpool as he knows that Jurgen Klopp is willing to give young players an opportunity in the first-team, with Trent Alexander-Arnold a clear example of this.
Hoever, who can play as a right back or a centre back, has been training with Liverpool’s U18 side at the Kirkby Academy and he will continue to do so whilst he waits for international clearance to play in games, which is expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks.
