Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been discussing why Fabinho has not yet made his debut for the club.
The Brazilian international joined in a big-money deal during the summer transfer window, as the Reds fended off competition from elsewhere to recruit Fabinho from AS Monaco.
However, with four games of the Premier League season already played, Fabinho has not been involved yet and has been notably absent from matchday squads.
Klopp was again quizzed on Fabinho’s current predicament at Anfield. Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, as quoted by talkSPORT, the Reds boss likened the midfielder’s situation to the opening periods of Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s respective Liverpool careers.
I don’t like to compare players. But, to be honest, we had similar questions and similar things to talk about around Robbo and about Ox. I don’t like the situation; it’s not that I like to say to Fabinho, who is full of energy and desire and wants to be involved, ‘you are not involved this weekend’. That’s not nice, it’s only the job to do sometimes.
With the international break at its conclusion, the start of a hectic fixture list begins for Liverpool and Klopp is sure to call on his sizable first-team squad to push through the busy period.
In this spell, Fabinho could be awarded his Liverpool bow, with rotation likely to be prominent.
