Derby County do not have the option to buy Harry Wilson after his loan spell with the Championship side ends, according to ESPN.
Wilson was named man of the match in Derby’s third round Carabao Cup win over Manchester United last night, coming through victorius on penalties.
Wilson scored a phenomenal free kick from range in the game to help the Rams make it through to the next round.
Wilson signed a new contract with The Reds in the summer before sealing his season-long loan switch to The Rams.
It is believed that 12 English sides enquired about taking the Welshman on-loan before Frank Lampard’s Derby County prevailed in the chase.
Wilson spent the second half of last season on loan with Hull City where he also impressed to earn himself a new contract with the Merseyside club.
The 21-year-old has so far only made one competitive first-team appearance for Liverpool but will be hoping to break into the first-team at Anfield when he returns at the end of the season.
Derby County boss Frank Lampard was full of praise for the youngster after his side’s win over United on Tuesday night.
I’m delighted for Harry. Because Mason [Mount] has been getting the plaudits, rightly so, but Harry I feel sorry for because he’s been injured and then had to get fit.
