Brighton’s Glenn Murray has revealed that Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is the toughest defender that he has encountered in his playing career.
The striker, who has five goals so far this season, revealed on BT Sport that van Dijk is one of the toughest defenders to line up against in the Premier League.

When asked by Robbie Savage on BT Sport who was the toughest defender he’d faced, Murray responded with:
For me, there’s one man that stands out – Virgil van Dijk.
To begin with, he’s a man-mountain, he reads the game well and then he organises his defence to be solid as well.
For me, he’s the stand-out central defender in the Premier League.
Murray’s Brighton sit 13th in the table after a 1-0 win over West Ham on Friday. The former Crystal Palace striker netted for the Seagulls in the win, as he continues a hot run of form.
Liverpool take on Manchester City on Sunday, with the Reds hoping to get the better of Pep Guardiola’s side yet again, after dumping City out of the UEFA Champions League last season.
