Liverpool player ratings: Manchester City (H)

Liverpool played out a rather dogged and fortuitous 0-0 draw with champions Manchester City at Anfield. Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty five minutes from time to hand the Reds a point in the end.

It was a game that lacked chances from either side, with the visitors being the more effective come the final whistle. Truth be told, prior to this match, these were the two water-tight defences in the league, hence, expecting both of them to break on such a big occasion was a big ask.

This result puts City joint-top with Liverpool and Chelsea, with the Citizens ahead just on goal difference. For Jurgen Klopp’s men, it was credible given the team looked a bit jaded after a run of games which has seen them play three of the top six in space of four weeks, sandwiched with two very tough European assignments.

Therefore, all in all, a satisfying result for both the teams. Here’s how the Reds performed in the game:
