No recall clause for Wilson

Liverpool cannot recall Wales star Harry Wilson from his season-long loan spell at Championship side Derby County, according to ESPN.

Wilson scored the winning goal for Wales in Tuesday night’s 1-0 UEFA Nations League victory over the Republic of Ireland, with a spectacular free-kick from the edge of the box.

Wilson also netted an incredible 32-yard set piece for Derby to help knock Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford back in September.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs spoke of Wilson’s talent from set-pieces after Tuesday night’s victory:

It’s a special talent to be able to do that. He does it all the time in training.

I have seen David Beckham over the years with his free kicks and it’s all about practice, practice, practice, and Harry does that as well.

Jurgen Klopp’s injury concerns are mounting after Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane all picked up injuries whilst on international duty.

However it is believed that the Reds don’t have the option to recall Wilson from his loan spell with the Rams, despite their potential injury crisis.

ESPN reported last month that Derby do not have the option to buy Wilson outright after his stint with the Championship club ends.

Wilson signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool in the summer before joining up with Frank Lampard’s Derby.
