Sergio Ramos responds to Dejan Lovren’s recent jibes

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has refused to be drawn into a war of words with Dejan Lovren.

The Liverpool centre-back recently hinted that Ramos was overrated, claiming, “when he makes a mistake, he wins 5-1 or 5-2 and nobody cares.”

Speaking to reporters, Ramos surprisingly chose not to be in confrontational mood, admitting he was a little baffled by the comments:

I’ve said it many times. I don’t know if these things are said out of frustration or for other reasons.

I’m not going to answer Lovren or whoever wants to win three front pages or start the news bulletin.

Everyone wins things for himself on the pitch.

Lovren made headlines when he described himself as one of the best centre-backs in world football earlier this year.

It is an opinion not exactly widely acknowledged, with the Croatian proving to be a divisive figure during his four years at Liverpool.

His comments about Ramos were likely inspired by Spaniard’s antics in the Champions League final, in which Lovren’s close friend Mohamed Salah was forced off with a shoulder injury, following a challenge by the Madrid legend.
