Barcelona chief deals Liverpool a blow with Dembele comments

Barcelona general manager Pep Segura.has hinted that Ousmane Dembele will not be leaving the Catalan giants in January.

The 21-year-old has been continually linked with a move away in the next transfer window, having struggled to settle at Camp Nou since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Liverpool are one of those tipped to make a move for him, but in an interview with SER radio, Segura laughed off claims that the player would be leaving, saying he is working to improve all the time:

There is no problem with Dembele.

Yes, we had a meeting, just like yesterday I met with three other representatives, but it’s normal, it’s part of my job, they’re natural things.

Dembele is very young and has never had to make an effort like the one he is doing now to adapt to Barca’s game.

We recognise that it is hard for him and he also recognises it, but we’re working to change this situation as quickly as possible.

Dembele’s performances in a Barcelona shirt have flattered to deceive, with the France World Cup winner scoring 10 goals in 38 appearances.

Meanwhile, some reports have claimed his attitude has been questionable, in terms of his professionalism.

It appears as though he will fight for his future in Spain for the time being, however, but you can never rule out the situation changing in January.
