Lyon would not be opposed to selling Nabil Fekir in January

Lyon are not against the idea of selling captain Nabil Fekir in January, according to L’Equipe.

The 25-year-old was close to joining Liverpool in the summer, having long been seen as a primary transfer target of Jurgen Klopp’s.

The move failed to go through at the last minute, however, after a knee problem was detected during Fekir’s medical.

Lyon have seemingly opened the door for the transfer to be reignited, with the Ligue 1 club not adverse to letting him go.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to go back in for the attacking midfielder, considering their reasons for pulling out of the deal in the first place.

Fekir’s form has been patchy this season, with a string of below-par performances causing frustration.

This appears to be the main reason for Lyon being content with moving him on to pastures new, with his unhappiness at not joining Liverpool possibly the main reason behind his malaise.

The France World Cup winner has also been tipped to join Chelsea, so the Reds’ Premier League rivals will no doubt be alerted to the situation, too.
