Matip back in training and could be available for Brighton

Jurgen Klopp has provided Liverpool with a potential injury boost ahead of their game against Brighton on Saturday, revealing that Joel Matip was in training yesterday.

The Cameroon international sustained a broken collarbone against Napoli in the Champions League last month and has been unavailable for the Reds since then, during a period where the club have suffered with defensive injuries.

Joe Gomez is also currently out injured, while Dejan Lovren picked up an injury against Wolves in their FA Cup tie earlier this week, with the Croatian expected to miss the next two games.

It had looked likely that Liverpool would travel to Brighton with just Virgil van Dijk as their sole fit senior centre-half, while 16-year old Ki-Jana Hoever may also have featured after making his injury forced debut against Wolves.

However with Matip, 27, back in training, Klopp will hope that the former Schalke defender will be available to feature against the Seagulls.
