Liverpool’s Kamil Grabara and Loris Karius go out on loan

Liverpool goalkeepers Kamil Grabara and Loris Karius have left the club on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Both deals will see the stoppers head overseas as 21-year-old Grabara heads to Danish side AGF Aarhus and 27-year-old Karius heads back to Germany to Bundesliga side Union Berlin.

Both deals were confirmed on the club’s official website.

Polish stopper Grabara spent last season on loan at Huddersfield and heads back out for more first-team experience as first-team chances at Anfield remain few and far between.

Karius goes in search of perhaps finding the next permanent destination in his career after spending two years with Turkish club Besiktas.

Karius hasn’t played competitively for Liverpool since that infamous night in Kyiv, where the one time Reds’ number one was culpable for two of Real Madrid’s goals in the Champions League final.

Karius links up with another Anfield loanee Taiwo Awoniyi in Berlin, the striker is spending his second season on loan in the German top flight.

It does seem as though both the club and Karius are simply filling time until the keeper can find a new permanent home, perhaps at the end of his deal on Merseyside.

Undoubtedly talented, Karius’ position at Liverpool is seemingly untenable, especially since the arrival of Alisson Becker and Adrian.

Grabara is still a young goalkeeper and a move away to play regular football makes sense for all parties involved.
