On a cold Wednesday night, Liverpool returned to Premier League action at Anfield, as the league leaders hosted former champions Leicester City. The meeting was one that could prove vital in where the league title ends up in May.
Liverpool, who started brightly after a goal inside the opening minutes from their best player on the night Sadio Mane, where soon pegged back by a sturdy defensive performance form Claud Puel’s men.
Leicester got their reward for their hard efforts deep into first-half stoppage time from one of England’s World Cup heroes Harry Maguire, levelling from the second phase of a set piece after a silly foul from the usually reliable Andy Robertson.
It will feel like two points lost rather than one gained for the Reds but anyways after much debate here are my selections for Liverpool’s three stars of the night.
Sadio Mane

Liverpool’s best player on the pitch by a considerable distance. Scored early and was really Liverpool’s only attacking threat. He consistently looked for the ball to go at the Leicester defence and seemed to really bust the gut to get the win for his team.
Fabinho

Fail to see how he does not start every game in the Liverpool midfield. He wanted to get on the ball and importantly go forward with it. Out of our midfield three, he has the best eye for a pass.
Jordan Henderson

There was a lot of debate and deliberation over my last pick and it may raise a few eyebrows but I have gone for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. Asked to play in an unnatural position at right back and I believe he handled Leicester’s threat well given the lack of protection, while he also offered an outlet going forward.
