Manchester United great Andy Cole has revealed he ‘has a feeling’ Liverpool will pip Manchester City to the Premier League title this season ahead of the Reds’ trip to Old Trafford this weekend.
Liverpool failed to beat Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday night and now have a huge task at hand at the Allianz Arena next month if they are to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for a second straight season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to bounce back and up their bid for a first-ever Premier League crown in the clash of behemoths on Sunday though, and Cole has touted them as favourites for success in May.
If you look at this Liverpool team now, it’s better than a lot of the Liverpool teams I played against. The way Klopp has got them playing football with the players he has, they’ll push Manchester City all the way to the end. I’ve got this sneaky feeling they will win it, even though I’m an ex-Manchester United player and a fan. I just think this season they have got something that is going to get them over the line.
Liverpool held a seven-point lead over City going into 2019 but now sit behind Pep Guardiola’s men on goal difference. They can restore their three-point lead at the top-flight summit with a win against United though.
The Reds’ chances of a victory were boosted last week when both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial suffered injuries against Paris Saint-Germain, and are doubts for the clash.
