A momentous week ahead for Liverpool

Going into the international break in two weeks time, the Premier League and more importantly Liverpool’s perspective on things could be very different. Liverpool face Burnley and Fulham in the Premier League before the break, with a round of 16 Champions League tie against Bayern Munich sandwiched in between.

After dropping points at Goodison Park, Liverpool now need to step it up and take the opportunity against Burnley to get the ball rolling once again. The Burnley game is not only important to keep pace with Man City at the top of the Premier League, but Liverpool can use it as a chance to get back into the groove and bounce into the Allianz on Wednesday night.

The week is such a momentous one for the Reds because they could head into the international break, top of the league and into the last 8 of the Champions League.

The Fulham game provides a weekend where Liverpool play without Manchester City, as they’re in Fa Cup action.

Liverpool could make a huge statement to City this week both mentally and physically. City gave Liverpool a chance to run away with the league after dropping points and Liverpool haven’t taken it. However, past games are not important at this current stage. Whats important is what is in front of you.

The end of the week could pretty much see the Reds out of all four competitions or it could see them with the two big ones still very much in their sights.

If Liverpool are Top of the league going into the break, then the month ahead is crucial, and is the month that will decide the destination of the title. Tottenham, Southampton, Chelsea and Cardiff our the four games after the break, whereas City play Crystal Palace, Man United, Tottenham and Burnley. This is the reason why this week is such a momentous week in the title race. If Liverpool go into the break top, then City have to go into them games in second and chasing once again.

The Champions League will undoubtedly play a part in both teams fixture preparation and team selections. Both sides are looking at the prospect of playing in the Quarter finals.

Every game in March Liverpool are playing after Manchester City, so for the Reds to go into the break top will be another sign of this side going to the wire, and not giving up. Both teams will re assess their position and their fixtures, after the Champions League and then during the break. All Liverpool can do is beat what is in front of them, and this week poses many different threats from teams with polar opposite playing styles. Burnley, Bayern Munich and Fulham await for Liverpool, in what will prove to be a momentous week for the remainder of the season.
