Liverpool’s squad seems to be close to resembling the kind of team sporting director Michael Edwards has envisioned.
One thing still to be sourced though is a reliable attacking depth option, who would be at home on the wing.
It can’t hurt to add some youth to the team either, although I admit it’s possible Klopp attempts to work Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson into the first team picture next season.
Nevertheless, here are five young wingers Liverpool could sign this summer.
1) Wenderson Galeno - Porto
I can tell you now, this is the best name you’ll see on this list. Currently on loan at Rio Ave, it’s unclear whether the 21-year-old has secured a place in the Porto starting XI or not. If he hasn’t, Liverpool could pounce. A terrific dribbler who can pick out the top corner from seemingly any distance, Galeno could be a fantastic addition on Merseyside.
2) Inigo Cordoba - Athletic Bilbao
The 22-year-old has been making waves in La Liga this season, with his lightning pace and dribbling accompanied with a laser-guided through ball. His defensive contribution might be what endears him to the Liverpool manager the most, however…
3) Federico Chiesa - Fiorentina
The 21-year-old has been capped 11 times for his country, and if you watch him, it’s not hard to see why. Another fantastic dribbler who likes to cut inside often, Chiesa could attract the attention of several European clubs once the transfer window opens.
4) Nicolas Pepe - Lille
Pepe has made 31 appearances in all competitions for his side so far this season, and the Ivorian has bagged a stunning 18 goals in those games. Fast, direct, and a nightmare to defend against, the 23-year-old is something of the modern forward.
5) Dodi Lukebakio - Fortuna Dusseldorf (on loan from Watford)
The 21-year-old is perhaps happiest at the top of the formation, but don’t for one moment think he’s out of his depth on the wing. Standing at 6 ft 2 inches, he could be a nightmare match-up for opposing full-backs too.
