The agent of Everton forward Richarlison has admitted he recently met with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp but denies speculation that talks about a potential move to Anfield took place.
Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte reported on Thursday that Renato Velasco travelled to Klopp’s house earlier in the week to suggest a switch of allegiances in Merseyside.
Velasco, however, has come out fighting against reports and told Sport Witness, as cited by Sky Sports News, that his 21-year-old client wasn’t the topic of conversation.
My meeting with Klopp had nothing to do with Richarlison. I am an agent of a player of Germany [Noah Weisshaupt], of Freiburg and Germany U20, where his father played with Klopp and they’re friends. So they did not see each other in time and I went to his house to take Marcos. It has nothing to do with Richarlison, the people who made the link have added one thing to another.
Richarlison has scored 13 goals in 33 appearances for Everton in all competitions and is now a regular in the Brazil squad.
Liverpool have one of the strongest front lines in Europe but depth is an issue with Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge potentially departing this summer, and Xherdan Shaqiri frustrated about game time.
It’s unlikely to happen, but this transfer would send shockwaves across Stanley Park if it were to go through.
