Jurgen Klopp coy over Roberto Firmino return

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kept his cards close to his chest on Friday when asked about the condition of Reds striker Roberto Firmino, the Liverpool Echo report.

The 27-year-old suffered a groin problem last week and missed Liverpool’s penultimate home Premier League fixture against Huddersfield as a result.

Klopp’s side didn’t miss the Brazilian against the already-relegated Terriers, however, the Reds did miss the striker in the week against Barcelona.

Firmino, who has found the back of the net 16 times in all competitions for the Reds this season, came on for the final 13 minutes on Wednesday as Liverpool suffered a 3-0 first leg defeat at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian’s appearance from the bench has left many wondering if the striker will return to the starting line-up on Saturday against Newcastle.

However, talking to the media, Klopp gave a coy answer when asked about Firmino’s condition.

We will see.

Klopp did go into more detail over Naby Keita’s injury, revealing the midfielder ruptured his adductor muscle on Wednesday and will be out of action for two months as a result.

It was really unlucky. It’s bad news.

He has a high grade adductor injury. The tendon is ruptured. It will keep him out for at least two months.

It’s bad news for us and for Guinea as well because the Africa Cup of Nations is coming up.

He was in a really, really good moment but it’s happened. That’s how football and life sometimes are. Not too nice. It’s very serious.
