Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher admits that he would love to see the club sign Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt this summer.
The 19 year old has shot to prominence this season, captaining Ajax to Eredivisie and KNVB Cup success, while also leading the Dutch club to the semi-final of the Champions League, narrowly missing out on the final thanks to a last minute Tottenham goal on Wednesday.
Taking both his age and his momentous impact at the Johan Cruyff Arena this season into account, De Ligt is considered to be one of the most coveted young centre-backs in the world.

Ajax CEO Edwin Van Der Sar has already conceded that De Ligt will likely depart the club this season, likely to either England or Spain, and he’d be the second high profile departure after Barcelona’s agreement to sign Frenkie De Jong.
When asked about whether he would like to see Jurgen Klopp bring De Ligt to Anfield this summer, Carragher admitted he would love to see him line-up in Red next season. As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Carragher said:
I’d love that!
I have never seen such a good defender at 19 years old. He plays as if he’s 29 and at his peak already.
You can only imagine how good he will be when he actually is 29.
