Firmino missed Liverpool’s final three league games with a muscular problem that also forced the Brazilian out of the Reds’ Champions League semi-final second leg comeback against Barcelona.

Liverpool announced that the 27-year-old’s return to full fitness will be monitored with caution by the club’s medical staff, who will give the striker “specialised programmes” as he returns from a muscle injury.

The Brazil international’s chances of featuring against Spurs are boosted further by UEFA’s ruling that allows the Champions League finalist’s to name 12 substitutes each.
