Liverpool are to face Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday, June 1 in the all-English Champions League final.
The Reds have an opportunity to win their first European title since 2005, and a chance to redeem themselves from their previous Champions League final against Real Madrid where they lost 3-1.
Ahead of the game which takes place in Madrid, Jurgen Klopp had an interview that has been shared by the Daily Star based on the players in his squad.
The interviewer had collected photos of Klopp’s players from when they were in their childhood and he wanted the Liverpool manager to guess who the pictures were of.
One player immediately stood out to Klopp, Virgil van Dijk. When shown the picture Klopp instantly laughed and said:
It looks like the sister of Virgil Van Dijk.
He then went on to say:
But it’s probably Virgil himself. Wow.
After humiliating van Dijk, Klopp redeems himself by calling the centre-back ‘good-looking’ and also named him a ‘world-class player.’
Van Dijk has been praised all season after the performances he has put in and was named the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Season. He has aided Liverpool to the final after scoring two goals and making two assists in the great European tournament.
