Camacho tipped to be the next Joao Felix by former boss ahead of Sporting move

Rafael Camacho’s former manager Joao Machado believes the Reds have made a mistake in allowing the 19-year-old to join Sporting Lisbon this summer as he has the ability to become as good as Benfica starlet Joao Felix.

Camacho is on the verge of completing a £5million move to his boyhood club Sporting this summer, with the fee set to rise to £7million in add ons, while Felix looks set to move to Atletico Madrid this summer in an eye watering £110million move.

And according to the Liverpool Echo via Desporto ao Minuto, Camacho’s former boss Machado believes the Reds have made a mistake in allowing the winger to leave, and likened the 19-year-old to Felix.

It is always difficult to make comparisons. I think he has the ability to reach the level Joao Felix currently has and in terms of characteristics they are similar players, since they move very well, occupy the spaces very well.

Rafael can get a little more unbalanced in one-v-ones, but ends up not having the capacity to score as many goals. I believe he can get to one of the best clubs in Europe, he may become one of the best players in the world, he can do that. Now it is important that he is trusted, played regularly, and I think he has gone to the right club and league to stand out.

The pair previously worked together at Real Massama prior to Camacho’s move to Liverpool.
