Firmino is irreplaceable for Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho made an appearance on the Hoje Sim podcast which takes place in Brazil. During the podcast he spoke highly about his national and club comrade Roberto Firmino, mentioning how Klopp stated that Firmino is ‘irreplaceable.’

There is no denying that Firmino is a remarkable striker. From his distinctive character and down to his acrobatic feet, he surely is one of a kind. Furthermore, there is no Firmino duplicate in the world of football; his skill, rhythm and class are what makes him unique. Firmino drops in deep, opening up his body which enables Mane and Salah to activate their frightening speed behind the team’s defences. Firmino is the key to Gegenpressing and without him, the front three lack that tiny bit of energy and firepower.

The brilliant Brazilian international left Hoffenheim in 2015 to join the reds for approximately £29 million. Ever since then, he scored 66 goals and contributed 47 assists in 192 appearances in all competitions for the current Champions League winners, astonishing.

Moreover, as the podcast continued, Fabinho specified Firmino’s importance to Liverpool’s philosophy.

At Liverpool, he is the perfect player for that position. With our characteristic of the two open players, he helps a lot because he scores goals and gives players the ball to score goals as well. And Klopp says that an irreplaceable player for him is Firmino. And I’m going to talk about my vision: I’ve always liked him a lot, but when you follow him every day, you realise that the guy is different. The guy is very good.

Fabinho’s statement emphasises the level of importance Firmino offers the club. He is a player that is a necessity for Liverpool’s progression, not just an accessory. Liverpool need Firmino to attain wins. Firmino is one of the many reasons why Liverpool won the Champions League last season due to his late goal against PSG. Without that goal, there was a high possibility we would have finished third in the group stages and enter the Europa League which; if that were the case, it would have derailed last season’s campaign, mentally and physically.

To conclude, Liverpool was so close to winning the league last season and in order for the club to continue attaining wins; Liverpool fans must hope that Firmino doesn’t get injured. Hopefully, his skill and dynamism will excel for the entire 19/20 campaign.
