Liverpool’s pre-season preparations have been dealt a blow as another goalkeeper has been ruled out for the remainder of the schedule following a training injury.
17-year-old stopper Vitezslav Jaros won’t play a further part after suffering an elbow ligament strain ahead of the Reds’ 3-1 friendly win at Bradford City on Sunday.
He made his senior debut by playing a half in the opening pre-season fixture at Tranmere Rovers and was set to act as Simon Mignolet’s back-up for the next few weeks following Caoimhin Kelleher’s broken wrist.
After an assessment, Liverpool have announced he’ll miss the remaining warm-up games ahead of the 2019-20 season and with Alisson nor Kamil Grabara yet to return, Daniel Atherton is set to travel with the squad to the United States.
An injury to Paul Glatzel forced Atherton to play against Tranmere as an outfield star, but it’s likely he’ll return to his natural position as the European champions face the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Sporting CP in the US.
