Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League campaign gets underway next month as they host newly-promoted Norwich on the opening day.
The Reds will start their league season on a Friday night at Anfield, after the fixture was picked up by Sky Sports to be the first televised clash.
Jurgen Klopp looks set to be without Sadio Mane, who is currently still competing in the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.
His progress in the tournament means that he could be in line for an extended summer break, making it unlikely that he will be available to face Norwich on the opening day at Anfield.
Liverpool will be looking to start the season strongly as they aim to win the Premier League title, after losing out to Manchester City last year – on the final day.
With injuries and potential absences, here is how we predict Liverpool will line up against Norwich next month…
The Brazilian will be looking for another impressive season after winning the Golden Glove in his debut campaign in English football.
The England international will surely start at right-back against the newly-promoted side. Alexander-Arnold set a Premier League record for assists from a defender last season.
Gomez has had all summer to prepare and get himself match-fit for the start of the 2019/20 season. He will be hoping to start against Norwich on the opening day.
Virgil Van Dijk
Who else but the Dutchman? The best centre-back in the world will start against Norwich on the opening day, barring any late injuries.
Robertson should be ready to start on the opening day, despite playing for Scotland over the summer. The former Hull defender was superb in the Premier League last season.
Fabinho endured a tough start to his Liverpool career last season, so he will be eager to hit the ground running this year and nail down his place in the side.
Wijnaldum was, arguably, one of Liverpool’s most underrated players last season. Despite the likes of Sadio Mane and Van Dijk grabbing the headlines, Wijnaldum was outstanding in midfield.
We predict that Henderson will be given the nod to lead Liverpool out as captain on the opening day of the season against the Canaries.
Salah shared the Golden Boot last season with Mane and Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and will be looking to kick off the new campaign with goals against Norwich at Anfield.
With Mane set to be out, we predict that Origi will end up leading the line up front for Liverpool against Norwich. The Belgian forward scored for the Reds in the Champions League final earlier this year.
Firmino could be played out wide to accommodate Origi in the side, due to Mane’s absence. Either that, or Origi could play on the left to allow Firmino to start through the middle.
