Spanish international Junior Firpo is hot property around Europe this summer.
Currently impressing with Real Betis, it looks like it could be time for the Liverpool-linked defender to take on a new challenge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are on the verge of signing Firpo as the La Liga giants look to strengthen their left-back options.
The player has previously been linked with moves to Anfield. According to Mucho Deporte, as cited by the Liverpool Echo, Firpo was a target for the Reds as they considered signing a potential alternative to Andy Robertson.
Firpo plays in numerous positions and if he were to join the current European Champions, he could provide competition for Robertson or even act as an understudy to someone like Sadio Mane in a more advanced position.
Missing out on Firpo could also be a blessing in disguise for the Reds. It may hand an opportunity for youngsters to break into the squad ahead of the new season.
Klopp recently told the Liverpool Echo that he is feeling relaxed about the club’s transfer business.
We will see what we do, and if we haven’t done anything by the end it will be for different reasons.
It’s about using this team. In the transfer window, you have to build a team that you think you want to go into the season with. But I have that team already.
