Nathaniel Phillips may have joined Stuttgart on loan, but Liverpool clearly have long-term plans for the centre-back.
The club have confirmed that the 22-year-old will spend the 2019/20 season at the 2. Bundesliga club.
He has also signed a new deal at Liverpool, though, having risen through the academy at Anfield.

It is telling that the Reds have tied Phillips down to a new contract, highlighting his reputation at the club.
The centre-back has impressed whenever he has been given the chance in pre-season, joining the first team squad on their tour of the United States this summer.
Phillips’ move to Stuttgart should be key in his development, allowing him to experience first team football and mature as a player.
If Liverpool didn’t see a potential future for Phillips, a contract extension would not have come his way.
The fact that it has says you all you need to know about his potential.
When he returns he will have a tough job on his hands forcing himself into Jurgen Klopp’s squad, but a strong season in German will do no harm whatsoever.
