“Unluckeeeee” – Liverpool fans react to Arsenal fan’s tweet about Henderson

Jordan Henderson is now a Champions League-winning captain – an achievement that has hilariously led to embarrassment for one Arsenal fan.

The 29-year-old has been bizarrely ridiculed throughout his career, ever since Alex Ferguson reportedly didn’t take him to Manchester United because of his awkward gait.

A big-money move to Liverpool in 2011 didn’t work out initially, earning further criticism, and even as he has matured, the Reds captain has found it impossible to earn universal acclaim.

That being said, Henderson’s stock has undoubtedly risen in the last 12 months, following a strong World Cup with England and increasingly consistent showings at Anfield.

The midfielder enjoyed the greatest night of his career back in June, hoisting the Champions League trophy aloft after Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in the final in Madrid.

Henderson has never been, and will never be, the most fashionable of footballers.

He isn’t the most naturally gifted of players and there are limitations to his game.

Despite this, he remains a good player who has thrived for both Liverpool and England – average talents simply don’t enjoy such success.

Henderson has forged an excellent career and becoming the fifth man to lift the European Cup for Liverpool was just desserts for the club’s longest-serving current player.

It hasn’t helped being Steven Gerrard’s successor as captain, which was an almost impossible task, but he has increasingly thrived in the role as time has passed.
