In recent memory, Liverpool have been known for poaching players from Southampton, thus breeding a ‘rivalry’ of sorts.
Their history goes further back, though, starting in 1902 when Saints thumped the defending First Division champions 4-1 in the second round of the FA Cup.
Overall, the Reds’ record is strong against the south coast side, winning 55 of their 110 meetings and losing just 25 of those.
Southampton were out of the Premier League for seven years between 2005 and 2012, and since their return to the top flight they have won just five times against the Reds.
A win at St Mary’s on Saturday would equal that five-game winning streak, giving Liverpool extra incentive to get all three points.
The European Champions last lost to the Saints in January 2017, suffering back-to-back losses in the League Cup.
As we prepare for the weekend action, here’s a look back at the most memorable wins that Liverpool have managed at Southampton in the Premier League era.
