Alisson’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or later this year have been laughed off.
The Brazilian enjoyed a wonderful first season at Liverpool, winning the Champions League and making huge saves against the likes of Napoli, Barcelona and Tottenham.
The 26-year-old is expected to be in the running for football’s most prestigious individual award, but the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Lionel Messi could be ahead of him in the pecking order.
These fans have taken to Twitter to talk down his chances, however, as he looks to become the first goalkeeper to win the Ballon d’Or in 56 years.
This is one of the worst tweets I’ve ever seen

Read Liverpool Verdict
Some of the mocking coming Alisson’s case is undoubtedly harsh, having been such an influential performer for Liverpool in 2018/19.
The former Roma star helped transform the Reds’ defence in the same way Van Dijk did the previous season.
That being said, Alisson doesn’t deserve to win the Ballon d’Or and it would be an almighty shock if he took home to prize.
Van Dijk is the strong favourite to be voted Europe’s best player, although Messi could provide stiff competition.
