It’s never a particularly nice feeling when Madrid and Barcelona come calling, considering the power both Spanish giants have when it comes to signing the world’s top players.

Van Dijk is unquestionably one of the those at the moment and it’s no surprise to see Zidane eyeing him up.

Liverpool supporters shouldn’t be worried about Madrid’s rumoured interest, however, because of their current standing in the game.

For the first time in many years, moving to Santiago Bernabeu would arguably feel like a step down.

Liverpool are now one of Europe’s top two sides, along with Manchester City, having clinched Champions League glory last season.

In Jurgen Klopp, Van Dijk is also playing under a superior manager to Zidane, giving him another reason to stay put.

Should an exit be completely ruled out? No. But it would be a huge shock if the Dutchman moved on any time soon.
