Liverpool fans, and supporters in general, have criticised the performance of Ederson in Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Peru.

The Manchester City goalkeeper had a night to forget, getting nowhere a free-kick in which Luis Abram headed home the only goal of the game.

Ederson is often compared to Liverpool stopper Alisson, with the pair locking horns at club level and also vying for the No.1 spot for their country.

With Brazil’s first choice ‘keeper injured, Ederson had a chance to stake a claim, but didn’t impress.

These supporters have let their feelings be known, with Alisson getting an unsurprising mention.

Although Ederson essentially cost Brazil on Tuesday night, he is still a good ‘keeper in his own right.

In terms of ball-playing ability, there arguably isn’t anyone better in the world in his position currently.

When it comes to the basics, however, namely shot-stopping, decision-making and positional sense, Alisson is on another level to his compatriot.

That is why he is Brazil’s No.1 and his own quality on the ball is still perfectly impressive.

Both men will again be key figures in the Premier League title race once Alisson returns from injury – will his superiority over Ederson give Liverpool the edge this time around?
