Jadon Sancho would be one of Liverpool’s most exciting signings of the Premier League era, but it could be a deal that ends up being nothing more than a pipe dream.
The Borussia Dortmund superstar has been linked with the Reds in the past, with Manchester United reportedly holding talks with him.
In a Q&A on Thursday, The Athletic‘s James Pearce confirmed that there is an element of interest from Liverpool, but admits a potential deal is a long way from happening:
Klopp clearly likes him but there’s going to be huge competition for his signature if Dortmund show any willingness to sell.
His value just keeps on rocketing and he’s just signed a new contract worth around £190k per week including bonuses. It would be a difficult deal to get done.

Sancho is one of the world’s most exciting young players currently, starring for Dortmund and also scoring his first goals for England in midweek, in their 5-3 win over Kosovo.
Such is his ever-growing reputation, only an extortionate amount of money will prise him away from the Bundesliga club, with United’s financial clout potentially giving them the edge, in that respect.
Any player should want to be a part of this Liverpool squad at the moment, however, as they continue to go from strength to strength.
Granted, it is extremely difficult for anyone to oust the world-renowned front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, but Sancho would push them hard and represent the long-term solution.
Few English players have been more exciting at 19 years of age, so Liverpool should do their utmost to make him a priority signing next summer.
