Liverpool have decided to withdraw Rhian Brewster from the U23’s squad to join the senior squad, after Divock Origi’s picked up an injury in Liverpool’s 3-1 home win against Newcastle.
According to The Liverpool Echo, Brewster was withdrawn from the U23’s squad just 15 minutes into their 3-3 draw with Derby County in their PL2 fixture, as a precaution, as he would be replacing the injured Divock Origi in the senior squad.
With Origi undergoing a scan on his injured ankle, Brewster is set to travel with the senior squad for their Champions League opener against Napoli in midweek, as Liverpool begin their defence of Europe’s most prestigious competition.

This will be a great chance for Brewster to impress both Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool fan base, and prove that he can fight for a place in the team in the future. Not only that, it will provide the youngster a chance to experience more European football, after he was part of the squad for Liverpool’s Champions League final last year.
It will only benefit Liverpool as they will once again have reinforcement in the strike force while Origi is out injured and will also show youth players that they will get a chance if they perform well. It also shows that Klopp is not afraid to use youth players in his senior squad, a great attribute that Klopp has shown throughout his managerial career.
Although Brewster won’t get much playing time, it will be a great experience for him, and a chance to get some minutes in both the Champions League and the Premier League
